Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data the Ajyad mobile application ("Ajyad", "the App", "we") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Ajyad is built on a local-first principle: the App is designed to work fully offline for its core features, and data leaves your device only for the narrow purposes described below.

2.1 Location Data

What: Your device's approximate or precise GPS coordinates.

Why: To calculate accurate prayer times, Hijri calendar sync, and Qibla direction for your location.

Storage: Cached locally on your device. Sent to third-party APIs (Aladhan, see Section 4) only as needed to verify prayer times — not stored on our servers unless you opt into cloud sync.

Your control: You can deny location permission (the App will ask you to enter a location manually instead) or revoke it anytime in device settings.

2.2 User-Generated Content

What: Journal entries, tasks, custom fasting records, and any custom audio/images you upload (Azan sounds, wallpapers).

Why: To provide the App's core journaling, task, and personalization features.

Storage: Stored locally on your device by default. Only transmitted to our backend (Firebase) if you explicitly enable optional cloud backup/sync.

Your control: You can delete any entry at any time; uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

2.3 Device and Usage Data

What: Device type, OS version, app crash logs, general usage patterns (e.g., feature usage counts).

Why: To diagnose bugs and improve app stability, via Firebase Crashlytics/Analytics.

Your control: This can typically be limited via your device's ad/analytics settings; see Section 4 for how to control Firebase-specific data sharing.

2.4 Account Information (optional)

What: Email address, if you choose to create an account for cloud sync (via Firebase Authentication).

Why: To identify your account and sync data across your own devices.

Your control: Account creation is entirely optional; the App is fully functional without one.

2.5 Purchase Information

What: Transaction confirmation for the optional "Support the Developer" purchase.

Why: To process the purchase.

Storage: Handled entirely by Google Play Billing — we do not receive or store your payment card details.

We do not collect: contacts, camera access beyond an explicit user-initiated file picker for custom audio/images, call logs, SMS, or browsing history from other apps. We do not sell any user data to third parties, and we do not use your journal content or location for advertising.

Locally stored data (journal, tasks, fasting records) persists until you delete it or uninstall the App.

Cloud-synced data (if opted in) is retained until you delete your account or specific entries, or request deletion (see Section 7).

Crash/diagnostic data is retained per Firebase's default retention policies.

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including relying on Firebase's security infrastructure for any cloud-synced data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you (if cloud sync is enabled)
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for cloud sync at any time (data will remain locally on your device)
• Export your data

Ajyad does not knowingly collect personal data from children beyond what's required for core functionality (e.g., location for prayer times, used the same way regardless of age). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data through cloud sync features, contact us and we will delete it.

If you enable cloud sync, your data may be processed on servers operated by Firebase (Google), which may be located outside your country of residence. Google maintains its own compliance frameworks for international data transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via the update notes on the Play Store listing. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
