Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Ajyad mobile application ("Ajyad", "the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Ajyad is a personal Islamic companion app providing prayer time calculations, Qibla direction, a Hijri/Gregorian fasting tracker, a private journal, task management, and periodic Hadith and Quranic verse notifications. The App is designed to work offline for its core features once initial setup is complete.

3. Eligibility

Ajyad is intended for general audiences. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you should use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The App does not knowingly collect personal data from children beyond what is strictly necessary for core functionality (e.g., location for prayer times).

4. Accounts and Optional Cloud Sync

Ajyad functions fully without an account. If you choose to enable optional cloud backup/sync, you may be asked to create an account via our backend provider (Firebase Authentication). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials.

5. User-Generated Content

Journal entries, tasks, and other content you create ("User Content") remain your property. Ajyad does not access, read, or share your User Content, except:

  • Locally on your device, to provide the App's functionality
  • If you explicitly opt in to cloud sync, in which case User Content is transmitted to and stored by our backend provider (Firebase) solely to enable sync across your own devices

We do not use User Content for advertising, sell it to third parties, or make it public.

6. Location, Notifications, and Device Permissions

Ajyad requests the following permissions to function:

  • Location — to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for your area
  • Notifications and exact alarms — to deliver prayer reminders and periodic Hadith/verse notifications on schedule
  • Storage access — only if you choose to upload a custom Azan sound or background image

You may deny or later revoke any permission through your device settings; doing so may limit the App's functionality (for example, prayer times will not update automatically without location access).

7. Third-Party Services

Ajyad relies on the following third-party services to provide accurate religious content and calculations:

  • Aladhan API — prayer time cross-verification and Hijri calendar data
  • Quran.com API — Quranic text and translations
  • Sunnah.com API — Hadith content
  • Firebase (Google) — optional cloud backup, crash reporting, and authentication
  • Google Play Billing — processing of optional in-app purchases

These services are provided by third parties and are subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We select these providers for their reputation for accuracy but cannot guarantee they are free of error.

8. Religious Content Disclaimer

Hadith and Quranic content within Ajyad is sourced from established, verified providers and is presented for informational and personal reflection purposes. It is not a substitute for guidance from qualified Islamic scholars, particularly for questions of religious rulings (fatwa) or matters requiring scholarly interpretation. Prayer times and Qibla direction are calculated using standard astronomical methods and device sensors; while we aim for accuracy, minor variations can occur due to calculation method, device accuracy, or GPS signal strength. Ajyad is not liable for missed prayers or religious obligations resulting from technical errors, notification delivery failures, or device-level restrictions (such as battery optimization) outside our control.

9. In-App Purchases

Ajyad offers an optional "Support the Developer" purchase processed through Google Play Billing. This is a voluntary contribution and does not unlock additional features unless explicitly stated in the App at the time of purchase. Purchases are subject to Google Play's refund policies; we do not process payments or refunds directly.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where permitted by law
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Upload custom audio or images (e.g., custom Azan sounds, wallpapers) that infringe on others' intellectual property rights or contain offensive, hateful, or inappropriate content
  • Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers

11. Intellectual Property

The Ajyad name, logo, visual design (including the Kufi and Thuluth theme systems), and original App code are the property of the Ajyad developer. Quranic text, Hadith content, and similar religious source material are not our intellectual property and are used under the terms of their respective providers.

12. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We reserve the right to discontinue or modify the App, with reasonable notice where practical, particularly regarding any cloud sync services.

13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Ajyad developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to missed prayer notifications, data loss, or inaccuracies in third-party religious content.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, without regard to conflict of law principles.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated in-app where feasible.
